I doubt that the colonist of the old computers could ever envision a scenario that the most significant computational robustness could be compressed into tiny handheld mobile devices. Neither did they visualize how industries’ employees could use the virtual desktops via the cloud infrastructure, regardless of the location of their function.
More variations are although to be introduced in the global technological space. For now, let us get surprised by the extensive advantages brought forward by the DaaS (Desktop as a Service) framework.
Desktop as a Service (DaaS), which is known as a cloud-based computing service, is delivered by a third-party organization or company. The whole Infrastructure is hosted by them or by the external third-party organization, generally known as Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI). While talking about DaaS, the virtual desktops are created on the servers of the Third Party organization or on to the Cloud Provider’s data center. Moreover, a DaaS provider is the one who takes care of all the support related issues and queries. It includes and is not only limited to the storage, Backup, Security path updates and network-related matters; the entire deployment of the virtual desktops infrastructure hosted over the cloud.
In this scenario, a DaaS provider uses its cloud-based network to make the use of virtual desktops seamless to the end customer’s mobile devices which include Smartphones and Laptops. It makes it easy for the end-users to access their virtual desktop using the client software or a web-based tool provided by the DaaS provider.
The DaaS infrastructure is usually multi-tenant, provisioning multiple users with the opportunity to operate over the virtual desktops which are in the cloud environment for the daily usage of official work and acquiring the access of files over the web-based tool or client software and most important, stashing the vital data more securely.
Industries can obtain such a service from any of the DaaS service providers; the service is available in different subscription models like Pay-as-you-go, monthly, quarterly, and yearly subscription. The pricing undoubtedly depends on the number of users an industry or a company might opt for.
The delivery model of Desktop as a Service is unique. As in this model, the DaaS provider is the only responsible for managing the cloud infrastructure and all the back-end tasks related to system upgrades, time to time backups, data storage, and security.
The gospel is that the DaaS service provider is the one who handles all the back-end infrastructure outlay and sustains out all the maintenance tasks while the users are spared from beforehand operational costs. This specific model powers customers to manage virtual desktop from their end without racking about the maintenance and security of their data and files that are stockpile over the DaaS provider’s datacenter.
In this scenario, Every time the end-users log-off from the system, the data is safely stored in the cloud. Next time when the user Log-ins regardless of device and location they are operating from, the end-user gets access to their data precisely in the same state where they had left.
This specific feature makes DaaS infrastructure the most reliable and convenient computational environment which anyone could think of. This infrastructure is adopted widely by many multinational IT companies, Education institutions, Legal services, and financial firms. With more and more enhancements getting introduced to the IT market, it is just a matter of time the DaaS model will gain more popularity and recognition among the small business owners.
